Episcopal Retirement Homes (ERH)
ERH enriches the lives of older adults in a person-centered, innovative and spiritually based way. ERH reaches an increasing number of older adults and their families in the diocese of Southern Ohio and adjacent areas with exceptional services, distinctive residential communities, and intentional ministries by transforming operating models and operating economics.
The Episcopal Disability Network
The Episcopal Disability Network works for the inclusion of people with disabilities into the life of the church and of society. They provide consultative assistance to congregations wishing to make their buildings accessible. They offer multimedia resources on disability awareness and other disability issues. They also maintain a free lending library of over 450 taped books, available to people who are print-handicapped. Topics include church history, spirituality and disability issues.
Educational Leaflets on Church Disability Concerns
A list of resources available from the Rev. Kathryn Piccard, co-chair of the diocesan Disability Concerns Committee, Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts. These leaflets have been developed in co-operation with Ms. Fran Wallis of the Diocese of Texas.
Aim for a Healthy Weight
This booklet for adults contains practical, easy-to-use information for losing and maintaining weight - including tips on healthy eating and physical activity, other options such as weight loss medications and weight loss surgery, setting weight loss goals, and rewarding success. The booklet also includes portion and serving size information, sample reduced calorie menus, tips on dining out, a sample walking program, weekly food and activity diary, and more.
Mindful Eating
A 14 page curriculum that guides congregants through an educational dining experience. This program gives participants an opportunity to slow down, experience dining in a very conscious way, and develop a healthier relationship with food. This program is especially appropriate for Lent and Advent.
