GreenFaith has released Restoring Eden – a guide to sustainable, healthy food practices for houses of worship and faith-based schools. Restoring Eden includes guidelines, success stories, and extensive resources to help your institution ‘green’ its food habits. This document is a free download but requires site registration.
Spa Day!
St. Bartholomew's, Pewaukee, IL recently hosted a Spa Day. It featured an exciting day of demonstration, participation, education and celebration of several holistic-type medicines that will be their focus for the health ministry team in 2010. Topics included: Tai Chi, Rieki, essential oils, Amazon herbs, massage, acupuncture and chiropractic medicine.
Healing Service with African Drumming and Reiki
This is a service that employs both traditional and non-traditional healing methods: African Drumming and Reiki, plus traditional healing prayer and laying on of hands. The service is based on the concept of release of tension through African drumming, restoration of peace through quietness and solitude and prayer for continued health through the laying on of hands. This service was a featured event at Grace Church in the Diocese of Southern Ohio.
The Episcopal Disability Network
The Episcopal Disability Network works for the inclusion of people with disabilities into the life of the church and of society. They provide consultative assistance to congregations wishing to make their buildings accessible. They offer multimedia resources on disability awareness and other disability issues. They also maintain a free lending library of over 450 taped books, available to people who are print-handicapped. Topics include church history, spirituality and disability issues.
