Many of our ministries come into contact with those likely to be uninsured. Food pantries and other ministries that serve the homeless or working poor will have the opportunity to identify many who need help accessing the benefits of the Affordable Care Act.

Churches can engage in ministry with their wider communities, working to disseminate information and enrollment opportunities to the people who need them the most. As members of the Body of Christ, we must work together to ensure that every ‘part’ receives the care that it needs, so that all parts, together, can live happy, healthy, and full lives.

Many people that we come into contact with in our ministries are in vulnerable and uninsured or under-insured populations. In the United States, people must have adequate health insurance before they can fully access the health care system. Working within this structure to provide as many as possible access to health care is critical.

When open enrollment starts on October 1, 2013, you’ll be able to apply, compare plans, and enroll in the Marketplace. Coverage starts as soon as January 1, 2014.
